What is sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT)?

Written by Daniel Leung

Sublingual Immunotherapy (SLIT) is a type of immunotherapy that is administered orally. Rather than allergy shots, SLIT is administered by placing drops under your tongue. This treatment can be administered by yourself in the comfort of your home.

Similar to allergy shots, SLIT targets the source of your allergy symptoms, eliminating the need for allergy medications such as Benadryl or Claritin over time. SLIT exposes your body to small amounts of your allergens, helping retrain your body's response to these allergens, and reducing reactions over time.

Each patient's SLIT treatment is custom-tailored to your lifestyle and test results data and is formulated in a Health Canada Approved facility before being shipped to your home.
